After Difficult strip now has two paths two sidewalk, xeric flower beds, and catches and stores rainwater.
Dry stack rock bedDry stack rock bed with native grasses and xeric plants. Hard-pack gravel walkway. No irrigation required.
Roses and perennials in new timber frame bedRoses and perennials in new timber frame bed, bordered by low upkeep gravel path that hold water and allows it to soak in, instead of running off.
Initial completionStacked Siloam sandstone retaining wall, rock beds, initial plantings of xeric and native plants.
CompletedHomeowner wishes fulfilled. Low upkeep, low water usage, abundant color, basically a xeric cottage garden. Bee and butterfly and hummingbird haven, also a refuge for ladybugs to overwinter. So colorful that cars stop to gawk all Summer long.
