Beautiful home with no landscapingHomeowner hated existing rock beds. Beds were degraded and very weedy in Summer. Homeowner wanted a country garden feel, but with low upkeep and low water usage. Deer are a problem in the area, so design had to be somewhat deer resistant.
Rocks, rocks, and more rocksAustere. Rock beds did not "fit" the style of architecture, and the degraded landscape fabric allowed weeds to flourish.
Street viewPlenty of rocks, not much life.
Street view after completionFreshly redesigned and planted.
CompletedDrainage accommodated, xeric plantings, and new outdoor living areas. Designed around low maintenance and low water usage.
Redesigned Walkway now says "Welcome!".
Living areas and breeze pathwaysOne of the homeowners is confined to a wheelchair. Pathways were designed to give him access to the front yard. Benches have become a favored hangout for the homeowners. This was previously an unused space.
Outdoor living areasOutdoor living areas and plenty of color and vibrance.
Access from drivewayThere was not a path before, so front yard was impossible for wheelchair-bound homeowner to navigate.
ColorXeric country garden, lots of lavender for smells, lots of perennials for sight. Sensory stimulation in a place that was previously sterile.
Complete makeoverOutdoor living areas, sights and smells, color. No longer austere and sterile.
